Shot Notes

As with every week Jase and I have take the Friday theme from Photochallenge.org, which this Friday was Macro/Close-up.

I have to say I was quiet excited about this weeks theme as I really enjoy playing around with my 70-300mm Tamron Macro lens. Manually focusing does pose somewhat of a problem to me as I have very dodgy eyes, but when I get past this the results I’ve been able to get out of the lens have been great.

My subject for this weeks post was stumbled upon by sheer chance and the quick eye of my lovely fiancee, Sylvie. Hidden in the shrubbery in the courtyard of our apartment complex was this fantastically orange mushroom sitting amongst the bark. She spotted it and I did a double-take to check it out, I realised it was the perfect subject for this weeks theme and ran to the apartment and returned with the camera, aforementioned macro lens, tripod, torch and remote shutter release to capture it before all remnants of natural light disappeared for the day.

As is usual with this lens I struggled a bit with the focus, but managed to pull of this shot reasonably well. So with very little post-production I present to you “Mushroom Magic” ;)

As always you can pop over to Jase’s blog and marvel at his image here.

Cool! Absolutely love the colour isolation of the mushroom, complimented with good composition.
