Dad in the yard

Don’t ask me where this idea came from, but whilst visiting my parents in Christchurch this weekend this shot popped into my head. So with the light fading fast I grabbed my father and asked him to stand expressionless at the far end of their new back yard while I took this frame.

Now that I have this image processed I’ve been sitting here trying to look at what gave me this idea and what this image says to me…

So I broke it down like this:

What is in this image:
- A fence (which keeps things in our out)
- Young trees
- Old trees
- An older man
- A new yard

And then I looked again and saw an older man fencing of an ageing world keeping his little piece of youth inside for him to treasure.
