Hichaaba Bump

Our good friends Lauren & Peter are a few weeks away from being new parents, so we thought we’d get out and capture a few images of them before the little one enters this world.

Not your traditional ‘Maternity’ photographs, but a very enjoyable little shoot with some lovely images that I hope they both enjoy.

Here are a couple of the images I really enjoyed from the day :)

Sunrise

It’s been a busy couple of weeks since we got back from our big trip, so images will be coming slowly over the coming weeks. As a break from that though I happened to be up at 5.30am this morning to see this spectacular sunrise over Melbourne :)

Enjoy :)

Huế

So we’re all back to reality now and I’ve begun the mammoth task of editing all the images I captured on our travels. I’m going to continue putting them up by city to give you all a snap shot of each place we were lucky enough to see :)

Today we’re in Huế. Unlucky for us it rained from the moment our overnight train from Hanoi arrived until the moment we left. Not letting that dampen our spirits we arranged a tour around all of the local sights (3 Temples and the Citadel). It seems that the rain has really added to the images in a positive way, giving them a feeling of a richer, ancient time.

Ha Long Bay

I haven’t had as much time as I thought I would to stop for 20mins or so and pump out a few images. But not to worry, once the holiday is over (4 days remaining ) I’ve amassed a fair few from each city to work though :)

Here are a few selected from Ha Long Bay, Vietnam. We had amazing weather while we were there and thanks to a great recommendation had a fantastic junk boat (Calypso Cruiser) to spend our night on.

Hà Nội

7 Days into our 24 day tour of South East Asia and I thought I’d better get a few images up to share what we’ve seen. Hà Nội was our first stop, and wow did it blow our minds… to the point that I think we didn’t really take it all in. Everyone I’d talked to about Vietnam had said that Hà Nội was pretty crazy, but until you arrive it really didn’t sink in.

I’m never one for planning what we actually do when we get to a country so we simply got lost in the streets and enjoyed some food, drink and sight seeing.

Square

A little while back I’d borrowed a Hasselblad 500C/M for a couple of weeks. Given I think I’ve shot maybe 3 rolls of film in my life I was a tad worried about my ability to meter without a light meter on the subject (I had one but not a spot meter). These are a couple of the odd ones that came from those couple of weeks. I need to get the neg’s re-scanned as I’d only got low res from the lab. So will post the rest when I’ve had a chance to put a few adjustments on them. In the mean time here’s 4 straight out of the camera.

As an interesting note; check out the railway image… not entirely sure what happened here? Perhaps something to do with the processing or when being scanned… but I like it :)

BIFB11

Got up this morning and made our way inland to Ballarat to check out a couple of exhibitions at the Ballarat International Foto Biennial 2011 (BIFB11). Great range of works to be seen from a range of different photographers. Highlights were:

Jan Saudek
Colin Page
John Gollings
Duffy
David B Simmons
Dave Tacon

As well as enjoying these we managed to enjoy a fantastic lunch at a little cafe called Eclectic Tastes. If you’re up in Ballarat we highly recommend you check this place out.

Here’s a few images from the cafe.
